BIOGRAPHY

"I believe that music brings out our inner truths and inner souls. It has the power to heal hearts and inspire. But best of all, it brings people together." - Shimira

Shimira is an award-winning LA based media composer for film, television, video games and other mediums.

Born and raised in New York, her interest in music began at a young age. She learned to play piano from her mother at age seven and trumpet by age nine. Shimira took part in numerous wind ensembles, orchestras, and choirs which developed her skills. One of her memorable moments include performing at NYC’s prestigious Lincoln Center.

In pursuit of her composition career, Shimira moved to Los Angeles to develop her media composition skills at UCLA’s acclaimed Film Scoring Program. While there, she studied with Hollywood’s award-winning composers, orchestrators, conductors, and musicians to hone her artistry. Shimira had the privilege of learning from and working with Charles Bernstein, Brian Ralston, Jonathan Merrill, Damon Tedesco, Daryl Swann, Fletcher Beasley, Mark Waters, Norman Ludwin, Charles Fernandez, Armen Ksajikian, Mark Robertson, and Ina Veli among others.
